I am a descendant of the great Irish Pirate Queen Grace O'Malley who hailed from Clare Island, County Mayo where my paternal grandfather was born. Grace sailed the high seas and took on the likes of the infamous Queen Elizabeth of England, daughter of the gravely misogynistic Henry VIII.
I am inclined to think that I inherited my rebellious streak from Grace. It is as good an explanation as any and rather stylish at that!
